The Shape of Wonder
My lifelong love of nature, coupled with my sensitivity to the unseen world, informs my paintings.
I create icons, which makes me an iconographer by definition, though not in the traditional sense. My work is subtly multifaceted, always backed by story. The subjects I paint are rendered to symbolize different sacred aspects of our shared human experience, depicted through nature.
The Modern Wild series features wildlife portrayed in a contemporary realist style, set against vibrant, abstracted backgrounds.
My works are deliberately intensified versions of reality, portrayed as though we could observe creation from a vantage point free of the greyed influence of what we expect to see.
It is my hope that my paintings invite viewers to contemplate the brilliant mystery that connects all living things, and to experience the wonder that waits at the convergence of reality and possibility.
